The hotel serves as a perfect base for skiing, offering a ski-in, ski-out facility right next to the slopes. The rooms are small but comfortable, though my non-smoking room had a lingering cigarette smell which needed addressing. The dining options, while plentiful, can become monotonous if staying for long. On the downside, the hotel is a bit isolated from more dining options and convenience stores outside of what's available on-site.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. However, I experienced an issue with the smoky smell in my non-smoking room which required a room change.
Service
8.0
The service was quite efficient overall, especially regarding the storage options for ski gear. However, the timing of room cleaning could use improvement for longer stays.
Location
9.0
The location is fantastic for skiing, with easy access to the lifts, but it's a bit far from other dining options and stores.
Dining
7.0
The dining experience offered a good buffet, but it could get a bit repetitive after a few days.
Facilities
9.0
Facilities, like the onsen and ski lockers, were great and well-maintained. Plus, having a rental service right there was very handy.

8.2/10

The Northern Hotel in Niseko is an ideal base for ski enthusiasts, offering easy access to the slopes and an overall comfortable stay. The ski lockers and onsen are highly convenient, but some areas like room timing and the limited dining options could use improvement. Overall, it’s a great setup for a ski vacation, but the location may feel a bit isolated for long stays with major dining options.

7.2/10

The hotel is a solid choice for skiers, located conveniently close to the slopes and ski lifts, which made it easy to hit the slopes directly from the ski room. However, I had some trouble with a smoky room despite booking a non-smoking one, and the dining options were somewhat limited. Overall, the facilities provided great amenities like an Onsen, but the value for money left me wanting a bit more.

Rooms
7.0
I booked a non-smoking room, but it smelled like cigarette smoke upon entering. Thankfully, I was able to switch rooms, which worked out better. The rooms were decent, if a bit dated, but comfortable enough for a ski trip.
Service
7.0
The check-in process was efficient, but I didn't have direct interactions with the service throughout my stay. The restaurant staff was pleasant when I did engage.
Location
8.0
The hotel is perfectly situated for easy access to the ski resort, allowing for ski-in, ski-out convenience. However, it's a bit isolated from the village and dining options which are not within walking distance.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast was enjoyable, and the Onsen was a highlight. Dinner options were limited to a buffet that could get monotonous, especially for longer stays.
Facilities

The ski lockers were great, and the Onsen was clean and well-maintained. The bar was nice but had odd hours that could be improved.

The Northern hotel is a great choice for skiers and boarders with its excellent access to the slopes and convenient amenities. The ski lockers are brilliant, allowing for dry gear overnight, and the on-site rental shop is a huge plus. However, the dining options can become monotonous after a while and the bar hours could use some improvement. The rooms are small but comfortable, providing good sleep quality.

7.0/10

The hotel is well-situated for skiers, with direct access to the slopes from the ski room, which is a huge plus. The facilities are adequate, but the overall feel of the hotel is a bit dated, and not worth the price I paid. The dining options are fine, but could become repetitive on a longer stay. Accessibility to nearby restaurants and convenience stores is a downside, encouraging me to rely on the hotel for meals.

Rooms
7.0
The rooms were a bit outdated but comfortable enough for a ski trip.
Service
7.0
Service was decent, though the cleaning schedule could use improvement; rooms weren't cleaned at the best times.
Location
6.0
It’s a short walk to the ski lifts, but it's removed from the busier areas and dining options in Hirafu.
Dining
7.0
The buffet had a decent variety, but if you stay long, the menu might become monotonous.
Facilities
8.0
Good ski facilities like lockers and gear rental, but other amenities felt basic.
